Editing - "It's another world!" Posted over 7 years ago by N/A - Posted in General

Larry Jordan discusses remote editing and the rise of the iPhone, stating his (almost) disbelief at the state of technology and change, and questioning, "What is an editing machine?"

The continued rise of the iPhone and Apple editing tools such as iMovie and FCP offer the possibility of literally editing as you go, shooting using an iPhone camera, editing in iMovie on a iPhone 4 and then polishing in FCP (as suggested by Larry).

So, this then opens up editing to anyone to produce user generated content and edit in a professional manner (maybe not with the same skill, but then its all about practice).

And of course Red Giant Software have started to produce "plug-ins" as apps for the iPhone. Its certainly a fascinating development, and how it will impact on professionally made films / programs will be of interest, but the impact on who makes films is perhaps more so...
